Istria – a magical Mediterranean peninsula surrounded by the clear sea, has a tourism-oriented coastline and a magical green inland with numerous cultural, historical and natural monuments, as well as unforgettable panoramic views from hilltop villages. Furthermore, Istria has a very rich culinary tradition. Istrian gastronomy is a reflection of the historical, geographical and climatic features of the peninsula and a result of the interference of tradition and local cuisine based on herbs, aromatic spices, seasonal vegetables, seafood and olive oil.

Different kinds of cheese and the Istrian smoked ham are its specialties. Istrian cuisine represents a special kind of Croatian gastronomy: it is a combination of the continental and the Mediterranean cuisine. This region is rich in truffles, olive oil and olive roads, wine types and wine roads, as well as in numerous top class fish restaurants.
